Over the past year, we have a seen a significant growth in our Online Psychometric Testing service using the Thomas International Personal Profile Analysis (PPA). The demand has increased further since the development of our simple Online Shop - The Learning and Development Store, where individuals can purchase their own Psychometric Report.
Quite a number of our newest account clients are Recruitment Companies and PLCs' using psychometric testing as a part of the recruitment process.
Using psychometric testing during the recruitment process can add considerably to the understanding of your proposed candidate however, psychometric testing should never be used in isolation, i.e. as the 'decision maker'. It is a tool in the same way that the CV (curriculum vitae) and interview itself are - the more information you have, the clearer the picture.
The effectiveness of the standard Personal Profile Analysis (PPA) report can be enhanced by requesting a Human Job Analysis (HJA). The HJA is a profile on the job role directly, created by you (or your colleagues who understand the job role) and costs - nothing!
Once the HJA is setup, you request the additional Job Compatibility Report to the standard PPA and this produces a unique report comparing the candidate's profile to the job's profile.
Other reports that can be requested which add real value to your understanding of the candidate include:
If you are developing a new team within your organisation you can also use the Team Audit. As with the HJA, your create a profile for the Team with a set fee for the production of the Team Profile, then a PPA is conducted on each prospective team member and the Team Audit Report is produced showing the qualities of each member within the team and where the team's strengths and limitations are.
Probably the single most important question we need an answer to when setting up an online test is "Which language should the test be taken in?"
Why is this important? Well, you may have a candidate applying for a job in the UK who has lived here for many years, speaks fluent English yet; they may still not fully appreciate some of the nuances (a very slight difference in meaning, feeling, tone) of the English language. This subtle misunderstanding can skew the test result considerably.
The test should be arranged in the candidate's thinking language or native tongue.
