Learning and Development NVQ at Level 4
This qualification comes in 3 different options. The option chosen will depend on the Job Role. The titles of the qualification options are:

You can also choose an option that is not a match for your job role. This may be the case if you are looking to develop yourself into a different Learning and Development job role.
NVQ Level 4 in Learning and Development
This is appropriate for someone who is involved in the design, delivery and evaluation of training programmes to learners. The delivery methods require group learning, mentoring in the workplace, supporting individual learners and reviewing their progress amongst many others. Thus, there is a large amount of "hands-on" with the learners.
At Level 4, the person is also required to contribute to learning within the organisation. Assessment and internal verification of NVQs are also available as optional units.
This qualification has:
- 7 mandatory units;
- A forced option between 2 others and;
- A free choice of 4 more from a total of 11 other units.

7 Mandatory Units
- G2 Contribute to the development of learning within the organisation
- G3 Evaluate and develop own practice
- L17 Evaluate and improve learning and development programmes
- L4 Design learning programmes
- L5 Agree learning programmes with learners
- L8 Manage the contribution of other people to the learning process
- L9 Create a climate that promotes learning
Including either L3 or L2:
- L2 Identify the learning and development needs of the organisation
- L3 Identify individual learning aims and programmes

NVQ Level 4 in the Management of Learning and Development Provision
As indicated in the title, this is more about management of learning and development. It does not require “hands-on” activity with learners. Internal Verification of NVQs is available as an optional unit.
- This qualification has:
- 6 mandatory units;
- A choice of 2 units from 7.
- Making 8 units in total.

8 Units consisting of:
6 Mandatory Units
- L1 Develop a strategy and plan for learning and development
- L2 Identify the learning and development needs of the organisation
- L17 Evaluate and improve learning and development programmes
- C13 (MSC) Manage the performance of teams and individuals
- P2 Develop a strategy and plan to provide all people resources for the organisation
- G3 Evaluate and develop own practice
Plus 2 optional units from:
- L3 Identify individual learning aims and programmes
- L4 Design learning programmes
- L7 Prepare and develop resources to support learning
- L8 Manage the contribution of other people to the learning process
- V1 Conduct internal quality assurance of the assessment process
- H+S D Review health and safety procedures in the workplace
- B3 (MSC) Manage the use of financial resources

NVQ Level 4 in the Co-ordination of Learning and Development Provision
This is similar to the NVQ Level 4 in Learning and Development, but misses group learning and mentoring in the workplace as options.
This qualification has:
- 7 mandatory units;
- A choice of 1 unit from 7 others.
- Making 8 units in total.
