Health and Safety NVQs

Health and Safety NVQs (national vocational qualifications) are aimed at people in health and safety roles across all occupations and sectors of employment.

Like all NVQs, these health and safety qualifications are competence based. This means that it is linked to the candidate's ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work. Candidates plan a programme of development and assessment with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove that they are competent and knowledgeable in their work role.

• About NVQs in General;

The Occupational Health and Safety NVQ at Level 3 is suitable for candidates with background experience in health and safety and who are involved in health and safety implementation in their own workplace and in others.

The Occupational Health and Safety Practice NVQ at Level 4 is suitable for those whose work is concerned with health and safety in the workplace. Level 4 is intended for people who are experienced in dealing with significant hazards and complex risks.

The Management of Health and Safety NVQ at Level 5 is suitable for those invloved at the strategic level and is considered to be a management qualification with health and safety units added.
