Management of Health and Safety NVQ at Level 5

It was agreed that the Level 5 Management of Health and Safety NVQ qualification is in reality a management qualification with a small amount of health and safety added on. No further qualification structures were proposed but it was requested that the qualification is retained (incorporating the revised H&S NOS). The existing structure has been revised only to replace the existing NOS units with their revised counterparts.
The Level 5 Management of Health and Safety NVQ has 11 Units, 8 manadatory units plus 3 units from an optional list of 10 units.
A total of 11 Units consisting of 8 Mandatory Units
- Units from the Managemnt Standards:
- B3 (MSC) - Manage the use of financial resources
- B5 (MSC) - Secure financial resources for your organisation's plans
- Units from the Health and Safety Standards:
- HSP1 - Develop and review the organisation's health and safety strategy
- HSP13 - Influence and keep pace with improvements in health and safety practice
- HSP2 - Promote a positive health and safety culture
- HSP3 - Develop and implement the health and safety policy
- Units from the Learning and Development Standards:
- L2 - Identify the learning and development needs of the organisation
- Units from the Personnel Standards:
- P11 - Develop a strategy and plan for managing changes in people resourcing
Plus 3 units from:
- Units from the Managemnt Standards:
- A2 (MSC) - Manage activities to meet requirements
- A4 (MSC) - Contribute to improvements at work
- C13 (MSC) - Manage the performance of teams and individuals
- Units from the Health and Safety Standards:
- HSP14 - Develop and implement systems and procedures within the workplace to minimise environmental impact of the organisation
- HSP4 - Develop and implement effective communication systems for health and safety information
- Units from the Learning and Development Standards:
- G2 - Contribute to the development of learning within the organisation
- L4 - Design learning programmes
- L8 - Manage the contribution of other people to the learning process
- Units from the Personnel Standards:
- P13 - Design, deliver and evaluate changes to organisational structure
- P14 - Contribute to the design, delivery and evaluation of work procedures
