Work Based Assessor Award - Unit L20

NVQ Units

NVQs are made up of Units of Competence. Units can be brought together to make a full NVQ or achieved individually, as a Unit Award, or in small groups to make Mini Awards, i.e. the Assessor Award has two Units, A1 and A2. Below is not a finite list of all the Units used in NVQs, but a representation of the most commonly used or required by business or individuals.

Work Based Assessor Award - Unit L20

Many companies and organisation have developed their own in-house qualifications or competencies based systems and need to have recognised, qualified and certified people who can assess the competence of their people against the standards of their system.

This poses a problem as where you might automatically go for the NVQ Assessor Award, that qualification is not appropriate for in-house systems and non-NVQ/SVQ based qualifications.

Unit L20 from the Learning and Development Standards provides the solution. It is referred to as the Work Based Assessor Award - Unit L20.

Award Overview

This award is appropriate for you if you are going to assess 'In-House' qualifications, certificates, awards, diplomas and non-NVQ/SVQ competencies.

What should you do if you are assessing and assuring the quality of NVQs or SVQs?
Units L20 and L8 are not appropriate for NVQs or SVQs. Instead, the following units are appropriate:

Programme Duration:
No set time line. Qualification and development can fit around the delegate.

Maximum number of Delegates:
There is no minimum or maximum as the Work Based Assessor Award programme can work around an individual or individuals working as a close support group.
